Hey Guys,

Today we are reviewing another product by Lumary. It’s a 24w Smart LED Outdoor Flood Light. It’s a very bright light, great for a patio, garage, barn, or back yard. I’ll show you how it looks installed in a handful of locations.

I picked up this light just before Christmas to add some holiday lighting to my property. Since I can change the lighting to any color, I will be using it on other holidays like Halloween and St. paddy’s day. It costs about $40 American on Amazon and the link is in the description. On the menu today we’ll show you:

  1. What is included
  2. Followed by the unit’s specs
  3. We will then review the basic app controls, including a lag test
  4. I’ll do a few locations install tests
  5. Then we’ll take it out for a water test, given it’s IP66 waterproof
  6. We’ll also check the maximum wifi range (Lumary suggests it’s a maximum distance of 90ft (just over 27m), we’ll try to beat it.
  7. We’ll then setup the light as a part of my Christmas decoration, where we’ll verify the lowest operating temperature
  8. Lastly, we’ll see if light survives my ultimate test… it does not.

Let’s move onto the water test. It’s above freezing here today, so I’ve set the light up on my front step and will spray it with a good dose of water from the garden hose. Awesome, no issues and the light continued to work as expected after this test.

Now it’s time for our range tests. Lumary recommended a maximum distance from your Wi-fi modem or access point to be 90ft or just over 27m. Long story short, here at 260ft or 80m. The house is in the background and here is a shot of how cold it is tonight. My neighbors must think I’m crazy to be outside. From inside the house, I still have connectivity, let’s test the power button. Now a few colors and now a scene. There is no lag, just las if the light was located inside here with me. Now while I was doing this test I wanted to share an appreciation for how bright this is. Here we are 600ft or over 180m away and you can see how much light that thing can produce, pretty cool.

Next, we are going to setup the lights as a part of my Christmas décor. I’ll install it on this tripod for now and point it towards these trees. Here is how it looks at night and does a very impressive job of flooding this area with the 3 different colors of light. When I swing around, you get an appreciation for the brightness of this light.

Ok guys, it’s a couple of days later and we had some very cold temperatures. It’s currently -30 degrees C out which is -22F. I’m taking a risk here and turned on the light to see if it works. I have my thermal imager too. So, we are reading -23.6 and -25.2 (-13F) on the back of the device. It’s obviously giving off a little heat. On the front here, we are looking at -29.6 (again around -22F).

Here inside, let’s do the same test when running this light at room temperature. The back of the light is showing a temperature of 40 degrees C (104F). If we flip it around, the front is just shy of 30C (86F).

A few days later, we had some outside temperatures that dipped to -40C and F. I considered not risking it, but curiosity got the better of me and I activated the light. The sequence from red, white and green stopped working. The red seemed fine, the white as a little pink and the green was more red than anything. Here is a better view here in the studio. The green color of the light is no longer functional. There is a 1-year warranty on the unit but this failure is the result of my own desire to risk operating the device outside its specified conditions.

So, I guess that means we are ending the video here. Overall, I ready enjoyed using the floodlight and found it very versatile for various locations. The app is easy to use and offers lots of cool features. I’d definitely recommend this unit for patio, garden, shed or garage lighting: Just stay within the specified operating temperatures.
